Weston Community Garden Society:

Founder and president, May, 2020 

Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida (GSSEF):

1998 to Present Day

Leader, Co-Leader, Troop Treasurer, Troop Product Sales Manager, Troop Cookie Coordinator, Service Unit Registrar (2008 to 2009), Service Unit Delegate (2007 to 2008), Service Unit Secretary (2007 to 2008), Gold Award Advisor (2015 to present)

As troop leader: worked with Girl Scouts and parents to plan activities, coordinate field trips, and engage in community service projects. As troop product sales manager: managed both cookie and fall product sales for many years. As troop treasurer: managed troop funds, balanced accounts, and reported to Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida annually. As Service Unit Registrar: placed Girl Scouts within the service unit’s geographic area in troops and spearheaded local recruitment efforts with the support of GSSEF. As Service Unit Delegate: served during the merger of Girl Scouts of Broward County with Girl Scouts of Palm Glades to become Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida.  Event planning: planned large service unit events such as a tea for approximately 250, movie field trips, and laser tag events, initiated and ran a summer archery tournament for area service units, and volunteered at several large, council wide events such as Mall Madness, Movie Mania, and Journey in a Day. As a current Gold Award Advisor: serving as a council level volunteer working with Girl Scouts in high school who are earning their Gold Award, the highest earned leadership award in Girl Scouts. 

Girl Scout Recognitions:

Honored with the Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2008.

Through Girl Scouts, honored with the President’s Volunteer Service Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2018.

Broward Wildcats Band Boosters Association, a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization: 

2015 to 2020

President, Co-Secretary, Board Member, Volunteer

Elected by the board as president for 2017 to 2018 and 2018 to 2019. Responsible for working with the band director, building the team for the board, coordinating volunteers, communicating with parents, fundraising including product sales, and managing a budget of over $70,000.00 per year. Prior to election as president, responsibilities included updating the band booster website, assisting with various band booster activities, chaperoning band field trips, acting as the first aid chaperone, serving as co-secretary on the board of directors, and supporting the marching band as needed. 

Western High School PTSA:

2015 to Present Day

PTSA Treasurer, Volunteer, Chair of the Sandy Williams Scholarship Committee

Elected treasurer for the 2017 to 2018 and 2018 to 2019 school years. As both treasurer and prior to election to that position, regularly assisted with the weekly product sale fund raiser, attended PTSA general meetings and board meetings, and worked with the Reflections art contest committee as a judge and volunteer for four years. Served as the PTSA representative and guest attendee at SAC meetings beginning in December, 2018. Appointed as the Sandy Williams Scholarship Chair for the 2018 to 2019 and 2019 to 2020 school years. Honored with the Outstanding Volunteer Award for over 2,000 hours of volunteer service to Western High School during the first four years as a volunteer.

2019 to Present Day

Elected to serve on Western High School's School Advisory Council

City of Weston Community Emergency Response Team (CERT):

Completed training for the CERT program on April 30, 2019

Volunteered to assist with city events such as the Rotary Run, Safety Fest, and Cypress Bay's graduation car parade

Rotary Youth Exchange:

Served as a host parent, 2019

Weston Rotary Satellite Club:

Inducted as a Rotarian on August 19, 2020

Community Activist:

Volunteered with local, state, and national campaigns, 2008 to 2018

Professional Experience

The Retreat Psychiatric Hospital:

1993 to 1997

Substitute Teacher, Teacher, Exceptional Student Education Specialist

Duties included teaching students admitted to the hospital homebound program, contacting the student’s home school to coordinate assignments and assist with the student’s transition back to their school after discharge, working with hospital staff to coordinate care and implement each student’s educational plan, working with other teachers in the program, answering parent questions about the educational program, and meeting with staff from Whispering Pines School to review student records and facilitate the educational program at the hospital. Worked with all grade levels but specialized in teaching upper grades, language arts and social studies. Promoted to Exceptional Student Education Specialist and took over all responsibility for running the school program.

Miami – Dade County Public Schools:

1990 to 1993

Teacher, Interim Substitute Teacher

Taught Emotionally Handicapped students at three elementary schools. Successfully completed the Professional Orientation Program and Safe Physical Management workshop. Duties included teaching second through fifth grade Emotionally Handicapped students, implementing the level system for behavior management, and all other professional teaching responsibilities. Member of United Teachers of Dade.

Broward County Public Schools:


Media Clerk (part time), Substitute Teacher

As a media clerk at Rock Island Elementary School duties included teaching primary grade library classes, assisting with distribution of materials and inventory, and various clerical responsibilities. Also worked as a substitute teacher for several elementary schools.
